LITTLE LOST BABY ANIMALS

Today I went up to my daughters house about 35 miles away, and we were in the back yard because they are installing a fence and a pool and she wanted to show me the progess. We are out in the yard talking and I looked across their drive and coming down the tree is this teeny, tiny baby squirel, so I started to talk to it and it came running right at me. I backed up and went further out in the yard and it followed me all around, it was so cute but I was afraid it would crawl up on me so I was trying to stay away from it but it kept following me all over and when I stepped up on the deck stairs it went under and tried to get up on the stair. My daughter thought it was hysterical she thought the squirel thought I was his mother because I have red hair : ) This little guy was maybe 5″ long and he would run around after me and then stop and nap for a few minutes and then he would go again. I told my daughter to call animal controll because I knew they had volenteers that rescue and she called and got to the people who would take care of it. The lady said well pick it up put it in a box and bring it to my house. My daughter said pick it up Mom then she added I guess baby squirels won’t bite. The lady said if it was that small it wouldn’t bite and if  it was chasing me around it was very hungry and needed milk. So I went out to the yard and it came over and I picked it up and no one will ever believe me but that little baby was happy. I rubbed his little tummy and let him suck on my finger, it was so sweet and he was so soft and made a sound like a little pig. He was just a baby that needed some closeness and food. The rescue lady said to look around because alot of times there will be more than one because if the mother is out of the nest the babies will come out of the nest when they get hungry enough and fall.  We looked and found one more dead under a tree next to where we first saw the first little guy. Anyway I had to go to the big city to have a close up experience with a baby squirel, and my daughter told me it was one more reason to move back to where she lives. She also bought us both memberships in the rescue organization that took in the squirel,  and she talked the lady into calling the baby squirel Kathryn : ))) See you tomorrow…Kathryn
