Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

There once was a girl

Who had a little curl

Right in the middle of her forehead

And when she was good

She was very good indeed

And when she was bad she was horrid

My mother always used to say this little rhyme to tease me when I had been naughty because I have curly hair. I always thought it came from this kids poem book we had. Today online I looked it up and found out this is a Longfellow poem composed apparently by him to sing to his second daughter whom he had to, as his son put it “get up and down with” at night. Who knew…
