VETERAN’S ADMINISTRATION SHAME ON YOU

I get soo mad when  I see those Veterans Administration commercials on TV. Please tell the truth VA you like to make drug addicts out of those old vets so they don’t show up everyday complaining because what’s really wrong with them is not being addressed. My friend went in because he was in a car accident in the 80′s and was starting to get aches ( He’s 61 ) and because he wasn’t sleeping. He thought he might be having osteo arthritis pain and he needed something like ambien for sleep. Well he came away with a prescription for Methadone a huge dosage. With in one month he had stopped eating lost 10 pounds and turned into a monster who became physical, never had this laid back guy raised his voice to me and I have known him for 20 years. He is a Vietnam vet that served in the Navy. worked as a welder all his life, raised his kids and in one month became a drug addicted monster. After 6 months and 30 pounds of wieght lose he was 5 11 and 190 when he started, not fat anyway, he was skin and bones and a whole different person. I moved in with him and helped him get off the methadone we told his family and they had been worried sick about him and unsure why he was so unhappy. I believe they blamed me for the change. After a month and 1/2 of going through hell he was clean and I was done and moved back to my house. He told me if I left him he would go back on, he did. When we became a couple again I asked him to please go off of it he now weighed 165 and had aged in appearance 5 years. He agreed to ask the doctor and also to ask for some sleeping meds since he was sleeping 2 hours a day by now. The day we went up and waited for hours to be seen, there was a 70 or 80 year old vet in the waiting room screaming at everyone that he was promised his blood test would be done right away so he could take his medication and he needed it!! It was very disturbing, when my friend came out from the doctor and we went to the car he said the Dr said he shouldn’t go off the Methadone again didn’t need arthritis meds and he would never prescribe ambien because it was addictive. Oh my god that Dr is dangerous and being allowed to play Dr on our vets and turn them into monsters. Now if you need methadone because arthritis meds don’t help you well then that is one thing but if you don’t even offer arthritis meds to someone you have diagnosed with osteo arthritis you are a terrible Dr that just wants to drug up his patients as an easy fix without regard for the real  problems or consequences to the patient or the people who love that person. VA you are what those guys got for their service? They got screwed. They are brave people who come to you for help and how many are being turned into Methadone addicts because it’s    CHEAP    and you pay for part and don’t want to buy something ultimately more expensive?  Veteran’s Administration you are horrible people, a horrible hospital and there should be a watchdog made up entirly of veterans to watch what you are doing to their brothers and sisters who cared enough to risk their lives and join a service. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PS  This Dr also took my friend off his blood pressure meds telling him the methadone would calm that down when his blood pressure was 180/100, when he went in a pa or interm questioned that to my friend and was causght by the Dr outside the exam room and reemed for questioning him. He then came into the room and said maybe you should take half a BP pill 6 months later when we went to have a prcedure workup done in Omaha it was 180/105 and the PA there said to take a whole dose and she would talk to the Dr so he could get his perscription changed, 1 month later we have gotten nothing back from him except he cancelled an office visit my freind had nice work Dr. I hope they stop you before you kill someone with your crappy medical care!!!!!!!!!!!
